Atabecestat

Description:
Atabecestat is a drug that belongs to the group of metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) antagonists. It is a small molecule that blocks the mGluR5 receptor and prevents glutamate from binding, thereby reducing inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease. Atabecestat has been shown to be effective in patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as those with more severe forms of IBD. The drug has also been shown to be safe for long-term use in clinical trials, including one study that lasted up to 1 year and another study that was conducted for 2 years.
